Position SummaryUnder the supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician Trainee is responsible for preparing and distributing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and maintenance of records to ensure effective patient care.
Pharmacy Hours Monday Friday / 8am 6pm Saturday and Sunday / 10am - 4pm Hospital OverviewGerald Champion Regional Medical Center has served the communities for over 67 years providing excellence in healthcare services.
GCRMC is an acute care medical center with additional licenses for 12 inpatient rehab beds and 38 psychiatric beds.
The medical center is a non-profit accredited by DNV.
What You Will DoProcures and distributes drug orders per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols and within the specified time frame:
Fills physician's orders, medication surgical kits, medication carts, and/or medication requisitions and specialty items/bins accurately.
Identifies and fills replacement medications on emergency crash carts, OR carts, floor stock, and automatic dispensing cabinets (ADC) accurately.
Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies, procedures, and protocols and within specified time frame:
Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies in appropriate locations.
Rotates stock to ensure use before the expiration date.
Identifies and replaces outdated and unusable drugs.
Restocks medication and IV dispensing areas.
Prepackages medications in unit of use containers.
Participates in the quality improvement activities of the department Completes all assigned medication storage area inspections in a timely manner.
Conducts quality monitoring, collects data, and completes documentation, as assigned.
Adheres to infection control protocols.
Complies with all state and federal pharmacy regulations and requirements.
Keeps pharmacy areas clean, neat, and well organized.
Keeps pharmacy equipment clean.
Maintains competencies required for the current position Attends staff meetings.
Participates in orientation, education, and training programs.
Review literature and other materials as assigned.
Completes all competency/skills assessment requirements annually or as directed.
Maintains continuing education/professional growth and development.
Contributes to the effective operation of the department Enters charges and credits for patient medications accurately.
Generates reports, pick lists, and labels as required.
Answers the telephone, identifying self and department.
Organizes and prioritizes work assignments.
Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation accurately.
Files in appropriate locations.
What You Will NeedRequirements High school diploma or equivalent required.
Possess current pharmacy technician trainee registration in the State of New Mexico.
Successful completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician training course is preferred.
