JOB SUMMARYThe Supervisor Operations is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations which may include staffing, scheduling, ensuring maintenance of equipment and supplies, internal communications, budgetary considerations, outside agency interface, and community relations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIESo Supervise, direct, and develop field staff to provide the highest possible level of patient care.
o Maintain quality field operations through daily contact, oversight, communication, and evaluation.
o Act as a liaison between the company and its patients, public safety agencies, training institutions, hospital representatives, and other applicable personnel.
o Mentor employees, conduct performance evaluations, provide disciplinary actions to assigned personnel, and facilitate individual and team development to drive positive results.
o Work with other members of the Management and Supervisory team to minimize problems, correct staffing and scheduling issues, and continuously improve service.
o Participate in the development, formulation, modification, and implementation of department policies, standards, regulations, and general operating guidelines and procedures associated with EMS delivery.
o Maintain appropriate staffing levels for field units, manage shift calendars, and facilitate shift bids.
o Cover open shifts with appropriate employee assignments or by filling in as needed.
o Supervise the effective operation, utilization, and maintenance of medical apparatus and equipment.
o Develop specifications for ordering and placing equipment in service.
o Review Patient Care Reports (PCRs) and other field paperwork for accuracy, ensuring that it is reconciled timely on a daily basis.
o Thoroughly investigate incidents and complaints involving assigned units or personnel and resolve in the best manner possible.
o Prepare reports and manage projects as assigned by the Operations or General Manager.
o Assure that all necessary payroll is properly completed and submitted in a timely manner.
o Assist with and engage in the recruitment and training of new employees.
o Maintain employee training records and track employee certifications/accreditations for compliance.
o Champion affirmative action efforts in all aspects of employment, including but not limited to staffing, training, and promotion.
o Comply with and enforce all applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
o Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
o Minimum 3 years of EMS field experience.
o Prior FTO or other leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
Education:
o High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
o Some advanced education preferred.
Skills:
o Ability to function as an EMT/Paramedic and perform direct patient-care activities in the field with a high level of proficiency.
o Thorough knowledge of equipment and supplies used in emergency care, patient care, and transport.
o Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
o Strong listening and comprehension skills.
o Ability to adapt to quickly evolving situations.
o Attention to detail and strong technical skills.
o Thorough knowledge of System Status management.
o Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
o Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
o Ability to successfully pass a Physical Agility Test.
Credentials/Licenses:
o State EMT/Paramedic Certification.
o State Driver's License with driving record in compliance with GMR's Safety & Driving policy (proof required if conditional employment is made).
o Ambulance Driver's License.
o BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, BTLS/PHTLS Certifications.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Working Conditions:
o Frequently works in an office setting or out in the field.
o Works alone and with others utilizing phone, email, and face-to-face communication.
o Occasionally works extended shifts.
Physical Demands:
o Must be able to lift, drag, hoist, and carry different types of equipment and other objects.
o Frequently required to sit, talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands to handle or operate objects/tools/controls, reach/pull with hands and arms, and drive an ambulance.
o Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell.
o Must be able to lift and/or move up to 200 pounds with the assistance of a partner.
